Abstract:

Apache Spark provides tremendous capabilities for machine learning and analytics. This new technology, combined with the popularity of Fitbits and other wearable IoT devices, is driving innovative projects. The project, "Heart to Spark", uses the Spark Machine Learning library to analyze heart rate data to identify basic health metrics, heart rate (min, max, resting, active) baselines, and detect trends. The insights gained from this project help health care professionals derive correlations between heart health, physical activity, sleep, etc. This session will discuss relevant use cases, Spark machine learning and analytic processing, and integration with Informix as the IoT device and data repository.
